MDC Goldenrod believes that because all persons are created in God’s image, every human life has equal value. Acting on this, MDC Goldenrod, as a ministry of Anabaptist and other participating congregations, recognizes the gifts of individuals with disabilities. MDC Goldenrod seeks to do this in ways that promote development of individuals, strengthen the family, and encourage continued congregational involvement. Read the Latest Newsletters
The Shelter
On Tuesday, June 1, friends of MDC Goldenrod dedicated a shelter in honor of the late Senator Marvin Riegsecker. The shelter will protect MDC Goldenrod residents from rain, snow, and sun as they wait for rides to work, appointments, and training. The shelter will also serve as a place where staff and residents gather to share food and friendship. MDC Goldenrod used Mr. Riegsecker's memorial gifts to build the shelter. MDC Goldenrod also used gifts given in memory of Anna Haarer, a friend and supporter of MDC Goldenrod, and Terry Miller, a resident of MDC Goldenrod. Marvin Riegsecker served five terms in the Indiana Senate. MDC Goldenrod built the shelter in memory of Senator Riegsecker's work to help provide shelter for people with disabilities. Current State Senator Carlin Yoder, State Representative Wes Culver, and Goshen Mayor Allan Kauffman helped cut the dedication ribbon. After the dedication, MDC Goldenrod residents joined family members, staff, and community leaders to enjoy food and fellowship in the shade of the new shelter.
